The EKG Team

Edible Kids' Gardens was created by landscape architect, permaculturalist and experienced gardener, Steve Webb in 2008.

At first a small-scale sole trader business, EKG has evolved over the years into an established nationally-operating bespoke playground company.

The team comprises many passionate, imaginative and skilled individuals, as well as collaborators and sub-contractors. We pride ourselves on our craftsmanship in carpentry and landscape construction, as well as our expertise in areas such as horticulture, therapeutic landscape design, permaculture and education.

We are insured with $20m in Public Liability insurance, and also carry the relevant Professional Indemnity and Workers insurances in the states our staff reside in.

About Steve Webb

Director and Head Designer at Edible Kids' Gardens, Steve is an accomplished landscape architect and experienced gardener living in the NSW Southern Highlands.

With each of his designs, Steve aims to create an inspiring, sustainable and dynamic space for children to explore and find happiness and meaning in.

Tapping into his knowledge and experiences from his background in teaching, psychology and counselling, Steve specialises in sensory-stimulating, lushly-planted and quirky, open-ended gardens and play spaces.

Rather than "plonking" play equipment onto a blank, bulldozed-flat terrain, Steve's designs come as a response to the feel of a site - a holistic synthesis of considerations such as aspect, topography, soil, planting, and the opportunities for play that any space can bring.

Steve is certified as a Level 3 Comprehensive Playground Safety Inspector, enabling him to ensure our playground installations are in keeping with the relevant playground Australian Standards.

Steve's Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (UNSW)

  • Level 3 Comprehensive Playground Safety Inspector (Playground Safety Inspectors Australia, PSIA)

  • Graduate Diploma of Social Science (Psychology) (Hons) (UNE)

  • Master of Counselling and Applied Psychotherapy (ACAP)

  • Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA)

  • Certificate of Adult Migrant Teacher Preparation (TESOL)
